A ciborium is a form of canopy over the Holy Table and it is aparted from 4 pillars which support a hemispherical dome with a cross on its top. These pillars stand on the edges of the holy table having a quadrilateral or an octagonal base while their basic body is cylindrical and they end in capitals. This basic shape can be found in even more complex constructions.
